Dresden Navaratri 2026

Garba returns on Saturday, 17 October 2026, 14:00 to 21:00, at Messe Dresden. Registration has closed. If you booked, bring your entry code.

📣 Update, 14 October: video competition

Make the best video of the evening and post it on Instagram as a collab with @gujarati_samaj_dresden. After the event we watch every video, and the best one wins a surprise gift.

The dates are set. We’re doing it again: a full evening of traditional Gujarati Garba at the heart of Navaratri 2026. This year we’re at Messe Dresden, with more space for the circle to grow.

What to expect

A familiar shape: aarti to open, an easy step garba for anyone who’s never danced before, dinner in the middle, then advance garba until the beats give up. Music by DJ Narasimha. People you haven’t seen since last Navaratri.

  • 💃 Best performer, female
  • 👔 Best costume, male
  • 👗 Best costume, female

Food coupon

Each food coupon includes:

  • Dal Makhni
  • Paneer Butter Masala
  • Rice
  • Gulaab Jamun

The food will be served by Bombay Mirchi.

Book your food coupon when you register. We order the food by headcount, so there are none to buy at the venue on the night.

Good to know

  • Barefoot on the floor. No shoes inside the Garba rounds, so please bring socks or plan to dance barefoot, as is tradition.
  • Wear a chaniya choli, kurta, or anything you can twirl in, and don’t worry if you don’t have traditional attire.
  • Children under 10 have free entry. Food coupons are optional and not included with child entry.
  • Come hungry.

Alcohol is not permitted on the Garba premises or anywhere at the event.

Registration

Students pay €5. Every student, whatever semester you are in. We check student cards at the gate, so bring yours. Just arrived and the card has not turned up yet? Your admission letter works too.

Registration is closed. Booked a student ticket? Bring the student card or the admission letter on the night. We check at the door, and anyone without either pays the difference there. Your entry code is in your confirmation email.
