Navaratri Dandiya Raas 2026

ગરબે રમવા આવો. Come dance garba.

The dates are set. We’re doing it again: a full evening of traditional Gujarati Garba and dandiya at the heart of Navaratri 2026. This year we’re at Messe Dresden, with more space for the circle to grow.

What to expect

A familiar shape: aarti to open, an easy step garba for anyone who’s never danced before, dinner in the middle, then dandiya until the beats give up. Music by DJ Narasimha. Gujarati food. People you haven’t seen since last Navaratri.

Food coupon

Each food coupon includes:

• Dal Makhni
• Paneer Butter Masala
• Rice
• 2 Gulaab Jamun

The food will be served by Bombay Mirchi.

Good to know

• Barefoot on the floor. No shoes inside the Garba rounds, so please bring socks or plan to dance barefoot, as is tradition.
• Wear a chaniya choli, kurta, or anything you can twirl in, and don’t worry if you don’t have traditional attire.
• Children under 10 have free entry. Food coupons are optional and not included with child entry.
• Come hungry.

Registration

Registration is open. Booking a student ticket? Give us the name of each student when you sign up, and bring the student card on the night. We check cards at the door, and anyone without one pays the difference there. You pay by PayPal to a member of the community: you get a reference and the PayPal link right after you register, and a confirmation once the money arrives. Register here.
